Now I see there's a lot of common foods in Latin America, Chicharrón + lemmon juice and Yuca + sour cream (suero) is also a popular meal in Colombia's Caribbean region. On the other hand, tropical fruit ice cream flavors are very common, finally the ‘empanada de yuca' in Colombia Is known as carimañolas, cassava dough + cheese or ground beef inside are very popular. We share a lot of inheritance, thank you for sharing!!

Yeah so my husband is Dominican. We live in Miami but we went to DR for his brother’s wedding. This was about 13 years ago. My brother in law took us to “El Bacano” food truck to get “the best chimis” My husband and I split one. It was good I have to say...... until the next morning. I woke up in a pool of sweat and explosive diarrhea. I’ve had stomach viruses before but this.... this was something else (if you saw the movie Bridesmaids then it was kinda like that) I had body aches chills and a fever and my in laws had to take me to the hospital. I legit thought I was going to die. They had to give me antibiotics and other medications to kill off whatever I may have ingested in that NOT so “bacano” chimi. It was the week of Christmas and New Years. I didn’t eat anything for that whole week I was so sick and weak. Oh what happened to my husband who ate the other half of the SAME sandwich you ask? NOTHING! Absolutely NOTHING! So unless you have an iron stomach, enjoy at your own risk 😅 And of course this story always comes up around the Holidays. I end up being the butt of jokes (pun intended)
