I like that whoever came up with this video thinks people will magically have molasses on hand if they don't have any brown sugar.

so you can substitute cream of tartar with white vinegar and if you don't have baking powder you can substitute it with baking soda and cream of tartar. BUT WAIT. You can replace cream of tartar with white vinegar, so you can substitute baking powder with baking soda and white vinegar. Then why bother buying cream of tartar anywhay?

"In all the rush to acquire my cream of tartar and molasses, I completely forgot the brown sugar and baking powder - thanks so much Tasty!" - Nobody MacNoonerson

I would think that the people who run out of brown sugar probably wouldn't have molasses. Although, is that really a sub as brown sugar *is* molasses mixed with white sugar?

Hm, this video was a parody? In Slovakia people who do not know what to use instead of chocolate and have cocoa powder and butter at home would be called stupid. I do not know what was this video about because everyone knows this "hacks". At least in my country, mabe not in America.

Seriously?? Who has the substitute ingredients lying around the house?? How about you drive to get what your missing. And if you're too broke to do so, plan ahead. Oh hell, maybe it's the universe's way of telling you that you don't really need any of what youre looking for at the moment.

The applesauce trick does work. I used it in a cake recipe once, it just doesn't hold together well. It tasted great, but eggs act as a binder. Just make sure you have eggs, a caved in cake doesn't make for a pretty presentation lol.

I have tried the Buttermilk Substitute. It just isn't the same. Plan ahead and go to the store and get the real stuff.

Really enjoyed a few of these. "Don't have the ingredient? Put together the things that make up that ingredient!" I was waiting for, "Don't have bread crumbs? Try crumbled up pieces of bread!!"

I've cooked almost my entire life and I have to say, until this post came along it would have never dawned on me even in my wildest dreams to substitute my missing fresh garlic with garlic powder!!! Genius, I tell you! All those years of having bland, unseasoned food just because of being out of a fresh spice when I had its dried partner up in the cabinet. The possibilities are endless now!!!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

What about going to the closest store? (unless you live in those shitty areas in USA where there are only fast foods and no stores if not miles away). Maybe I'm strange, but usually I plan what to cook at least a couple of hours in advance. At least.
